Eating a nutritious diet is fundamental in good oral health. When planning meals, choose a variety of foods from the different food groups. Avoid fad diets that eliminate an entire food group because that can lead to a vitamin deficiency. Eating a variety of healthy foods not only promotes good oral health, but increasing fiber and vitamin intake may actually lower your risk of diseases. Also, keep your mouth hydrated throughout the day with water. This stimulates the production of saliva which protects both hard and soft tissues in the mouth.
